Both our software and IT teams are based in Victoria, BC it may be a short ferry or float plane ride into Vancouver or Seattle but it is a world away in culture. Victoria brings together one of the most vibrant and entrepreneurial tech communities in Canada with two great universities, a great culture, a rugged coast and nature. From surf, to good music to fine local food there is a lot going on during the summer and it becomes just that much better in the winter when the tourists have all gone home. Our business development and account management team works out of Victoria, Vancouver and Toronto.
We are looking at growing our software development team. As part of our software solutions team you will work on Mighty+ our omni-channel platform targeting the food supply chain. Used in e-commerce and logistics applications our platform empowers traditional grocery store operators and wholesales to offer solutions that bring the online and in-store consumer experience together. Our platform manages the entire online ordering, and picking process. Mighty+ also schedules and dispatches our customers delivery vehicles. Our software runs in the cloud and is also embedded in onboard tablets and in last-mile smart locker technology.
Since you would be working directly with our customers to understand their needs and tailor solutions, you will require great interpersonal and system analysis skills. You should have demonstrated expertise in creating innovative software. A BSc in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required. You must be based in Victoria, BC.
As part of an inter-disciplinary team you will help deliver on our vision of how technology should be easy to use, secure and dependable. This starts by building a personal relationship with our customers, to better understand their business objectives, desired outcome and expectations. We back that up by using industry leading network operations monitoring technology and a strong internal technical team. Being part of our team means developing depths in a few areas, and having a general understanding of the others.
System Administration - The systems we support are a split of MS-Windows Server and Linux servers. Many running our own private cloud.
Wide Area Networks - Many of our customer installations involve creating wide-area networks that connect multiple sites together, some in remote or northern regions of the country.
Public Cloud Infrastructure – We frequently help larger customers make the transition from on premise to the cloud. We administer systems on the Mighty Oaks, Peer1 and Microsoft Cloud among others.
Security – We frequently help our customers achieve and maintain their PCI compliance. We also design and deploy security solutions including unified threat management, firewalls, and advanced data encryption technology meeting government security standards.
Help Desk Support – We focus on designing and supporting systems to minimise help desk calls. However when needed, we are there.
To help gain that depths of technical knowledge you will be able to participate in some of the certification focused training programs offered by our key technically partners: Microsoft, RedHat, Sophos, Brocade, Lenovo, HP and Millennium Micro.
Since you would be working directly with our customers to understand and tailor solutions around their needs, you will require great interpersonal and system analysis skills. You should have demonstrated expertise in deploying and supporting IT Technology, with either MCP, CISSP certification or equivalent technical experience. You will need to be part of an on-call rotation.
